Professional boxer Victor Ortiz will host a meet-and-greet and autograph signing to launch his new skin care line for men, “VO,” at Rio Spa & Salon on Saturday, May 26. Rio Spa is the exclusive retailer of the anti-aging products which include a skin care kit and shave care kit. Guests who purchase either product from the VO line during the event will have an opportunity to get autographs and take photos with the famed athlete.

First Grade Food Critics, a movement to promote nutrition education, career awareness and academic development among children in at-risk schools, will visit the Springs Cafe on Wednesday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. to sample menu items, learn from the chefs about the path through culinary school, and offer their opinions on the meals provided by the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas for the Summer Food Service Program, the Academy is the operator of the Cafe.
Chef Denise Rosettani, who directs the program, is continually working on improving the menu and receiving feedback from children to understand what they really like to eat. Their opinions will provide valuable insight for the Academy to shape its menu for children this summer.

Longtime West Las Vegas Library community supporters, Tom and Bonnie Lawyer, presented $1,000 gift donations to seven admirable students who have demonstrated a love for their West Las Vegas community, as well as academic achievement and financial need. The Tom and Bonnie Lawyer West Las Vegas Library Academic Scholarship was created in 2009 by former Library Foundation president Tom Lawyer in honor of the library's commitment to the community

Star of “Pawn Stars” on HISTORY, Richard B. “The Old Man” Harrison, is being honored in his hometown of Lexington, NC with the Key to the City given to him by Lexington’s Mayor, Newell Clark. The ceremony will take place Tuesday, May 29 inside City Hall at 8:30 a.m. where Mr. Harrison will receive the key and proclamation.

“The Old Man” will travel back to his roots of Lexington, NC with his wife Joanne, to accept the honor from the city where his life and career started. The 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy has never forgotten where he came from and has always acknowledged the city of Lexington for all it has done for him and his family.
