It's the Weekend, Baby!

The ladies of CREW-LV, the Commercial Real Estate Women of Las Vegas, will host their fifth annual charity event to benefit The Shade Tree. The fashionable event will take place on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tickets are just $50 for an afternoon of fashion, food and fun.

Guests will get an intimate look at the hottest trends in fashion provided by Barneys New York. The fashion show will be emceed by Barneys’ very own Creative Ambassador at Large, Simon Doonan. Models, styled by Barneys’ first-rate team, will be mingling throughout the luncheon giving guests the chance to see the fashion up-close. The afternoon’s cuisine will be provided by the exceptional chefs of FIRST Food & Bar inside The Shoppes in The Palazzo.

PBR Rock Bar & Grill inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will designate a new spot for guests to rock out and party the night away at the popular Strip-side destination, entitled PBR Rock Bar. 

The new Rock Bar, located at the front entrance, will feature floor-to-ceiling bookcases, a bar and dance platforms for patrons to get down to the top 40, rock and pop selections played by the DJ. The area will also include high-top furniture for revelers to take a break from busting a move and sip on drinks from PBR Rock Bar & Grill’s expansive drink list.
The Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas (ECF) has selected four remarkable Clark County high school students as scholarship recipients for their 2012 class.

Founded in 2001, ECF’s primary endeavor is educational support for students seeking a career in the hospitality and culinary industries, providing mentorship throughout each student’s college career and helping with placement in internships and jobs. This year, the foundation has selected four scholarship recipients that will pay for their entire bachelor’s degree. The students included Noah Shakespeare, Ajaha Johnson, Karen Nava and Alexandria Von Mohr.

Pop culture icon and talented DJ, actor and television host, Nick Cannon, will make his highly anticipated return to Chateau Nightclub & Gardens on Saturday, May 5, hosting a blowout Cinco de Mayo bash. Today internationally-renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay announced that Gordon Ramsay Steak, his first restaurant in Las Vegas, will open Friday, May 11 at Paris Las Vegas. Gordon Ramsay Steak will offer guests a fresh, high-energy modern steakhouse environment that playfully transports guests from Paris to London.

“The space is bold and innovative, and we've put together a strong team who together created a contemporary and fresh menu,” says Chef Ramsay. “I can't wait to open and start welcoming guests to my very first Vegas-based restaurant.”

The Cinco de Mayo bash will be the ultra-dive bar’s final night of hard partying until its reopening at a new venue on the Strip later this year.

Television star, Joey Lawrence, will party in Las Vegas for his birthday at Chateau Nightclub & Gardens at Paris Las Vegas on Saturday, April 28. The hunky actor will celebrate turning 36 and surround himself with his fans inside the luxurious nightclub in Sin City.

Today, Lawrence can be seen starring on the number one ABC Family series “Melissa & Joey,” co-starring Melissa Joan Hart. After a successful first season appealing to over 2 million viewers, season two is set to be released in the summer of 2012. The students of the Epicurean Charitable Foundation (ECF) will participate in the annual MS Walk on Saturday, May 5, at Town Square. As a group, the students will join the race to support their fellow ECF scholarship recipient living with Multiple Sclerosis, Alona Rideout, a Hotel Administration major at University of Nevada, Las Vegas graduating in May.

Since Rideout was first awarded with a scholarship by ECF, the organization has been involved with the annual run to support, connect and bring awareness of the disease with others across the country. The students of ECF work to continue to support the community who always supports them.

What a Wild Wednesday!

Multi-talented performer Trina Johnson-Finn adds a production hat to her repertoire in the debut of Queen of the Night- A Tribute to Whitney Houston. Gemini Twin Productions (Johnson-Finn’s new production company) is bringing Queen of the Night, an emotional and sing-sational production to the Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel. The live show, directed by Trina Johnson-Finn and choreographed by Adolfo Barreto, debuts Friday, April 20.

Comedy-Magician Mac King performed two special assemblies for the students at Lomie G. Heard Elementary School on Wednesday, March 28. King’s appearance was part of the school’s Career Week 2012 festivities. During the show, King performed some magic tricks, read a few books and talked about how reading literally changed his life. King shared with the students that he “checked-out” a magic book at his elementary school library, which later carved the career for the comedy-magician, now in his twelfth year as a headliner at Harrah’s Las Vegas. King then encouraged students to visit their school library and check out a book on any career they may be interested in. King dedicates his personal time to showcase magic and discuss the importance of reading at various Las Vegas schools throughout the year.
Hash House A Go Go teamed up with Rick Harrison from HISTORY Channel’s “Pawn Stars,” N’Sync member and current host of The Price Is Right Live! at Bally’s Joey Fatone and Flamingo headliner and comedian George Wallace during National Pancake Week to design their own pancakes.

The No. 2 UNLV men’s golf team will travel to Tempe, Ariz., for the 40th annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational, which will be played at Karsten Golf Course (par 71, 7,026 yards) on Friday-Saturday, April 6-7. Grammy Award-winning recording artist Jason Mraz has announced his return to Las Vegas as part of the “Tour is a Four Letter Word” tour. The tour will coincide with the release of Mraz’s hugely anticipated new album, LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD, which features the hit single, “I Won’t Give Up,” and will be released in the United States on April 17. The global trek will get underway in early June with a series of Asian dates that includes shows in South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. UNLV men’s basketball sophomore forward Mike Moser announced Sunday that he will remain as a Runnin’ Rebel for his junior season. He has spent the last couple weeks contemplating entering the NBA Draft, but has decided to stay at UNLV. “I went through the process, talked with my mom, my AAU coach, and Coach Rice and the staff at UNLV,” Moser said. “We looked at all of my options, and in the end I decided it would be best for me to stay in school.
