What a Wild Wednesday!

Multi-talented performer Trina Johnson-Finn adds a production hat to her repertoire in the debut of Queen of the Night- A Tribute to Whitney Houston. Gemini Twin Productions (Johnson-Finn’s new production company) is bringing Queen of the Night, an emotional and sing-sational production to the Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel. The live show, directed by Trina Johnson-Finn and choreographed by Adolfo Barreto, debuts Friday, April 20.

Comedy-Magician Mac King performed two special assemblies for the students at Lomie G. Heard Elementary School on Wednesday, March 28. King’s appearance was part of the school’s Career Week 2012 festivities. During the show, King performed some magic tricks, read a few books and talked about how reading literally changed his life. King shared with the students that he “checked-out” a magic book at his elementary school library, which later carved the career for the comedy-magician, now in his twelfth year as a headliner at Harrah’s Las Vegas. King then encouraged students to visit their school library and check out a book on any career they may be interested in. King dedicates his personal time to showcase magic and discuss the importance of reading at various Las Vegas schools throughout the year.
Hash House A Go Go teamed up with Rick Harrison from HISTORY Channel’s “Pawn Stars,” N’Sync member and current host of The Price Is Right Live! at Bally’s Joey Fatone and Flamingo headliner and comedian George Wallace during National Pancake Week to design their own pancakes.

The special pancakes were available on the Hash House A Go Go menu from Feb. 19 – 25 and the pancake that sold the most at the end of the week was named the winner. One dollar from each of the three celebrity pancakes purchased was donated to the celebrity winner’s charity of choice.
The No. 2 UNLV men’s golf team will travel to Tempe, Ariz., for the 40th annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational, which will be played at Karsten Golf Course (par 71, 7,026 yards) on Friday-Saturday, April 6-7. The 17-school tournament will consist of 36 holes played on Friday and a final round of 18 holes taking place on Saturday. This year’s field is made up of Arizona, host Arizona State, Ball State, BYU, California, Cal State Northridge, Colorado State, Denver, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pepperdine, San Diego State, UC Irvine, UNLV, UTSA, Washington and Wyoming.
UNLV’s Director of Athletic Training Kyle Wilson has earned the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s (NATA) and the Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association’s (FWATA) 2012 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer awards, the two organizations have announced. NATA’s prestigious national award recognizes members for their exceptional and unique contributions to the athletic training profession. It reflects a lifetime of dedication to the association and the field of athletic training at the national, district and local levels, and also recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy and distinguished professional activities as an athletic trainer.

Country Superstars, formerly known as Country Superstars Tribute, located inside the Golden Nugget Las Vegas, launched its new show format with the addition of Cody Collins, former lead singer of Lonestar, as its headliner during their Opening Night held on March 29, 2012. Cody Collins captured the hearts of the ladies in the audience with his charming vocals while the Big & Rich tribute artists gave a spot-on performance. Country Superstars is a hybrid show featuring a rotating cast of up and coming country music artists performing original songs and spectacular tribute artists showcasing all the hits
Grammy Award-winning recording artist Jason Mraz has announced his return to Las Vegas as part of the “Tour is a Four Letter Word” tour. The tour will coincide with the release of Mraz’s hugely anticipated new album, LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD, which features the hit single, “I Won’t Give Up,” and will be released in the United States on April 17. The global trek will get underway in early June with a series of Asian dates that includes shows in South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. From there, Mraz will return home for his biggest North American tour to date, kicking off August 9th at New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena. Mraz will perform with special guest Christina Perri at the Red Rock Casino Amphitheatre at Red Rock Resort on Sunday, October 7 at 7 p.m.
